The sparkly red shoes {Child photographer Sydney}

I found a willing little model today, eager to have her new sparkly red shoes photographed (for all of five minutes). I cannot tell you how much joy these shoes have given Amelie. They have barely left her feet since we bought them last weekend!

And of course I couldn’t forget my ever willing model (within reason) who is growing up so very fast….

My girls are the reason why I developed my hobby of photography into a business. They help me find the inspiration and passion I have for my work everyday.

Spring would have to be my favourite time of year, closely followed by summer. Anyone who knows me well knows that I hate being cold so these extra warm spring days we have been having are just fine by me! I have also found the most beautiful spring garden location. I stumbled across this little hidden gem recently on one of my walks and couldn’t wait to bring my girls here for a few shots. Spring is the perfect time for portraits so if you have been thinking about getting some done then now is the time to contact me. I have this and many other great location ideas to share with my clients.

Happy Birthday Baby Girl {Children’s Photography, Sydney}

It seems that our “baby” girl is, well, not a baby anymore. Amelie turned four last week and we celebrated with a party on the weekend. She had been anticipating and planning her party for months right down to the colour scheme (pink), theme (Tinkerbell), cake (chocolate), gifts (Barbies and more Barbies), games…she planned it all! Here is a shot of her waiting for her guests to arrive. I wanted to take some photos of her before the party (and the mess) started but she could get her eyes off the back door in case one of her friends walked through. I will post some more shots of the actual party (she had a ball) later in the week as I really must get back to editing some clients images….

Haircut {Children’s Photographer in Sydney}

For the past week I have been noticing that Amelie has some new “short bits” of hair around her face and there seemed to be more and m0re of them each day. Her hair had been all one length and past her shoulders for a while but now I was starting to have trouble putting her hair up into a ponytail! I was getting worried that something was causing her hair to be brittle. I pointed this out to my husband a few days ago explaining my concern and Amelie just stood there with a poker face. Well, the penny finally dropped yesterday when I saw her coming out of the cubby house with a lock of her hair in her hand. I went in there for the first time in about a week and discovered a nice pile of clippings on the desk and floor next to a pair of kid’s safety scissors!! It seems that she had been going in there each day and giving herself a bit more of a haircut If she had done it in the house I would have noticed straight away but I try and avoid going in the cubby house as this is their “messy” place where they can do all the stuff I won’t let them do inside and I hate looking at the mess. We have had a good laugh about it all now, something to tell her about when she gets older! We have an appointment at the hairdressers after school today to see what we can do about it

I took my eldest daughter, Georgia, out for a mini photo session on the weekend. I may be just a tiny bit biased, but I think she is gorgeous We had a lot of fun walking around town trying to find some cool photo locations. Looking over the photos I took, I was so happy that I had made the effort to capture this moment in her life. It has made me resolve to do it more often!

Inspiring Weekend {Sydney Children’s Photographer}

I just got back from my photography workshop in Canberra. I had an amazing and inspiring weekend and I can’t wait to put all of my new ideas into practice! It was wonderful to meet so many other children’s photographers from around Australia and the world (there were participants that came all the way from the US and UK). There were lots of child models bought in for the workshop and I took over 1000 shots!! I obviously have a lot of post processing to do and will post some of my photos here on my blog. To make a start, here is one shot from the weekend….
